At the time my wife and I decided to contract on with Adoption Consultants, Inc. we were at a personal cross roads in our lives.  My wife had suffered 4 miscarriages, all within the space of less than two years.  She was ready to try again, but I just could not endure the constant "trying," followed by the anger that inevitably followed when she did not become pregnant, or the ultimate joy when she did, only to crash and burn when she lost each child in her third month of pregnancy.  Before signing with Cathy, I spent six months calling and e-mailing her with every question I could possibly think of!  She took the time to answer each and every one of my questions this entire time, and I had not even sent a dime!  Upon receiving our birthmother letter, Cathy carefully reviewed it and give us suggestions as to where to clarify a section or include some areas we might have left out that might be helpful for a birthmother to read about.  Cathy was so thorough in her assessment, she even asked me if I smoked, which really surprised me, but she noted the smell of smoke on the profiles and mentioned this might be a problem in being selected if the birthmothers who were reading our profile did not smoke.  I made the changes Cathy suggested and within two months we were chosen by a birthmother!  We were beyond thrilled, but we were actually chosen at a time when I was very ill, suffering from chemical pneumonia.  Despite this, Cathy worked with us, guiding us through and, because I could not speak, Cathy did all the talking for me!

The time period between our matching and the birth of our baby girl was very short.  There were complications along the way...the birthmother lost her housing and needed to see a physician for an evaluation.  As these obstacles came up, Cathy took the reins and helped us every step of the way.  When Brianna was born there was a health scare, but it all turned out to be just fine.  During the scare, even after we had signed placement papers, Cathy could tell we were nervous about Brianna's health and offered to void the adoption and relist us if we did not feel comfortable moving ahead.  This was 3 days after the placement papers were signed!  My wife and I agreed this angel was ours, for good or bad, and we thank god every day that Brianna did receive a clean bill of health after all!

Ever since we returned home to Texas Cathy has been continuing to check in with our family with bi-monthly phone calls and e-mails to see how we are doing and to give us updates as to the birth father's termination.  Actually, it is the responsibility of our agency to keep us aware as to their efforts in terminating the birth father's rights, but Cathy takes the time out of her day to do this for our family!

I can honestly say, anyone considering using another agency is going to spend more money and receive less services!  Cathy turned a situation that appeared hopeless at times into one of pure joy!  In my opinion, if you are considering adoption the person you choose to assist you in your pursuit is just as important as the birthmother who will ultimately choose you.  My family choose Cathy, our birthmother chose us, and the end result is our new daughter Brianna 2 months later!  God bless you Cathy!

Cathy,
Well what can we say except THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!!  You have given us the miracle that we have been looking for.  Our little angel, Brianna.  She has made our family complete.  Mark is the happiest big brother ever.  He just loves being with her and showing her off--even though, I must admit, I like showing her off also!  We are all so happy that she is here and its all because of you! You are a wonderful person.  You take pride in what you do.  You are here to help the birthmother pick a family and you help the adoptive family make their dreams come true.  You were Brianna's first visitor and we'll never forget that.  Thank you so much for all her wonderful gifts--her baby book, the yellow onsie with hat and receiving blankets.  We love everything.  She has gotten so many wonderful gifts from many wonderful people ...but it all started with you.  For that, we owe you a big thank you.  Again, thank you.

Love,
Lori, Richard, Mark and Brianna
