We adopted our beautiful daughter through Cathy Mantell and Adoption Consultants, Inc. We learned of Cathy through friends of ours who had adopted twice through her and spoke very positively of her and her company. Because Cathy was very knowledgeable of the adoption process and very easy to talk to, we decided to sign on. Cathy helped us create our profile and began to present us to prospective birthmothers. Within eight months of active searching through Cathy, we had our daughter!
One night we received a call from Cathy about a birthmother who she had just met that day, who had delivered the night before. She showed the birthmother several profiles, including ours, and the birthmother selected families who interested her. Cathy explained all the facts of the situation to us and we decided to pursue the situation. Cathy called the birthmother, told her that we were interested and a conference call was arranged. We met the birthmother on the following day at the hospital. Cathy made all the arrangements. A social worker met us at the hospital to properly advise the birthmother, which was the first step in terminating the birthmother's parental rights.
Although Cathy was not feeling well on the day she met with our birthmother, she went anyway. By that night, Cathy was running a high temperature and barely had any voice left. However, she still called us and took the time to go through all the details of the situation with us. By the next day, Cathy could only barely whisper. Instead of resting, she e-mailed us details upon details of what was to happen next. There were many details considering we were in the midst of bringing in a social worker, meeting our birthmother and picking up our baby! Even though Cathy had little voice remaining and was obviously feeling very sick, she still called us to be sure we were absolutely clear on what was to happen next. She called us throughout the day to make sure all was going well, and even called when we returned home to be sure we arrived safely. Cathy's diligence reflects her strong work ethic for her clients and the birthmothers she helps. It would have been very easy for anyone else to pass off the case or tell the hospital that they could not take on the case. If Cathy had not accepted and handled this case, we would not have our precious daughter.
Throughout the adoption process, Cathy was extremely diligent in guiding us through exactly what, and why, were the next steps. Cathy was able to timely answer our questions, or guide us to the appropriate resources. Under the circumstances, the birthfather termination was somewhat difficult to complete, but, with Cathyʼs unwavering and thorough assistance, we obtained his waiver without having to go through a lengthy and expensive court process, wondering the whole time whether he might decide to refuse the placement.
Cathy stayed in constant contact with us throughout the entire journey. No detail was too small for her to share with us. Cathy always kept us well informed. When we were not in contact with Cathy, she would call us to see if we had any updates for her. To say she is 'on top of everything' would be an understatement.
We cannot thank Cathy enough for her tireless, around-the-clock efforts in matching us to our daughter's birthmother and helping us start our own family. Throughout the entire process, with its emotional ups and downs, Cathy thoughtfully, and compassionately, responded to every one of our questions or concerns with creative, effective solutions. We simply could not be any happier with Cathy's hard work and are pleased to recommend her services to anyone considering adopting. We know you will be in good hands, just as we were!
